I didn't order it . It came in to my dealer on Monday and went to check it out. When I drove it I was hooked. I live in Pa. There is a red crew cab premium at a dealer in Lexington Kentucky. They still have it I talked to them yesterday It's on face book market place
 
For those lucky enough to have one can you answer a few questions for me?
1. What is the top speed in Comfort, Standard, and Sport. Do they all reach 60-65 MPH?
2. What is the RPM's at 40 MPH in Comfort, Standard, and Sport? (40 is about the cruising speed we travel most of the time) I'm just curious how much different the modes make on RPM's and noise at cruising speed.
3. Is the stereo ok as is or should I plan on having to buy the rear speakers and sub? Not looking for crazy loud just tired of the shitty Polaris stereo I have in my current XP 1000 Northstar Ultimate.
 
Congrats @Wincollector and @Jeff G on getting two great-looking Ranger XDs before Christmas!

@Wincollector, thank you for the thorough review and for sharing your initial thoughts and modifications list! The new XD's sure look good with 32-inch tires and that big beefy front bumper. I'm happy to hear how quiet and solid it feels. The new XD is probably way overkill for my little 10-acre property, but after your review, I'm now considering trading in Defender Lone Star Cab on one!

I will answer questions the best I can for you. I am not at my rural home anymore. Back in the misery of the city for kids and grandkids Christmas celebrations tomorrow and Monday. I Will be back after Christmas. Sometime on the 26th, so will take pics for the various speeds and modes.

1. I think was in standard mode when I had on highway. Can’t remember for sure. Top speed 63-65. When it would hit 65 the governor would kick in and it would slow to 63. Then it would stay mostly 64. Sometimes hitting 65 again. I’m just guessing, but I think comfort, standard and sport would be same. Just different response on the way to speed. Give me a couple of days and I will have solid answers.
2. I will answer better next week, but around 40, I am guessing between 4000-5000 depending on if you are on gas or not. It just doesn’t need really high RPM to do its thing. Really different than what we are used to on SxS’s. Also sound is just different on XD. Deeper and much less whiny and irritating.
3. Great question. I didn’t address stereo and should have. I’m not much of a stereo snob, but this one sounded great. I hooked to my phone and had various music playing. Country, 70‘s and 80’s rock, Christmas music. All sounded crisp and clear. Nothing tinny or diluted. My wife was not with me this week because she had Christmas stuff to do, so I listened to stereo a lot. Because the noise in the cab is really not all that great, it doesn’t interfere with the stereo too much. Sounds really good and plenty loud in the mid range volume when you’re cruising around. When I was on highway going 65, I could hear it well. 1 million times better than the stupid Polaris stereo I have in my General that sits above the windshield. That one is basically worthless unless rig is stopped. This one is truly good quality. Vehicle level good. It sounds great and you can actually hear it when you’re driving. I see no need to add the rear speakers. It is certainly not something I would consider until you’ve had a chance to test the one that comes in it. If a person is in back seat it may not be as loud for them…but for me, if someone is in backseat, I don’t have radio on anyway. We’re usually talking. I did have my elderly parents in it for a ride and we talked just fine at speeds that ranged from 20-50.

I do like the new ride command app. It shows how much fuel it has, latest rides, where it is located, number of miles to next service, needed updates, diagnostic information, etc. None of it 100% necessary, but nonetheless pretty cool. I guess the downside of that is Polaris knows all of that information too. Big brother and little brothers, I suppose, are always looking over our shoulders now.

Battery tender port is also great. I usually add cord to the battery first thing when I buy a new ATV/UTV and it’s a pain. The XD has a port on the front grill so all I needed to do was plug in the tender. Batteries last much longer for me if I tender them.
 
I just check the RPMS At 30mph on flat road is 3250 to 3300 and at 40 mph its 3600 rpms. It is smooth and plenty quiet to talk normal. As the incline increases the rpms goes up to maintain speed. My opinion is its not loud at any speed

I agree with Jeff. Never feels loud. Sounds like I over estimated RPM in post above. Thanks for your input. I will do same next week so we cover it. I feel some responsibility to help y’all since I was so desperate for information for months. Polaris should pay us Jeff!
 
Thanks to both of you, I have been desperate for some of this information. My ride is only a 3 seater so it sounds like the stock radio set-up will be fine for me. Not really wanting to spend the extra $1200 for the rear speakers and the sub plus the install looked to be a fairly involved process. Thanks for the help and keep sharing your knowledge.
 
Just went out in the yard to test the hold back on a fairly steep incline. I stopped in the middle of the hill and took my foot off the brake and the machine drifted back real real slow it was excellent. No free wheeling. Control of the gas pedal is fantastic.
 
To follow are RPM at various speed and modes. FYI, governor is at 65 on all modes. Kicks on at 65 and generally slows to 63 and stabilizes at 64.

Also, FYI the most RPM’s I could reach was 6150 and that for a second or less then it would go back into 5000’s. Transmission is amazing! So smooth!

edit to add: Still haven’t tried low/tow. Will do it, but pretty sure max speed is under 20.

A few miscellaneous bits of info:

Gas mileage for first 108 miles was 14.2mpg. Driving in various modes and terrains. Didn’t think that was terrible.

Radio sounds nice. At 50ish had it on 6-7 and could hear it well. At 25-30 5 was plenty loud.

Seat warmers cook! Heater in general, is ridiculously good.

My daughter called and my wife spoke with her on phone most of the time I tested rpms and speeds. Went 65 to town to fill up and that’s about 12 miles away. Her and daughter could hear each other fine. Even at 65. It is louder at that speed, but not unbearable.

My wife loves the rig. Her first time seeing it today. She was comfortable and noise/HVAC made her enjoy.

Dog loved the back seat. Haha.
