Clunk discussion

I first noticed the clunking sound at about 200miles. It is very frustrating. I also had mine at the dealer in august and was told they couldn’t find anything wrong but sent a video to polaris. So basically the driveshaft/hub has play is what I’m learning so if I buy Rhino axles that should fix the issue? This clunking is driving me nuts.
That is the same mileage mine started and yes mine was annoying me terribly as well. That's why I HAD to try the Loctite approach.

I personally would not purchase an aftermarket axle yet. What if it is the hub that is oversized rather than the axle undersized ?
I don't think it is the hub but every clunk you hear is play between two splines. Anytime there is clearance between machined parts that move (clunk) there is strong opportunity for wear on both surfaces. I believe the true repair will be an axle and also a hub.

Mine was clearly on the left side so that is the side I performed the Loctite band side and for a week has silenced mine.

Can you tell what side your noise is coming from?

Mine seems to be the drivers side. But can’t really tell. I need to have my wife drive it while I’m either in the back seat or outside the machine.

Been about 3 weeks since done the Loctite bandage. Three weeks is probably only 60 -70 miles, (25ish hours) for us but we ride in rough tight woods and accelerate hard with a few steep inclines.
We are currently still clunk free!!!

Mine goes in today for the loctite treatment and all updates, including the transmission. He is going to do the loctite at the end of the day and leave it on his hoist all weekend to cure, which sounds like a good idea to me. I'm curious how the tranny update is going to change things and as far as the clunk, we'll see......

I thought they shelved the whole locktite thing. Mine was good for 100km. Now it’s clunking again.

I was told the loctite fix was no longer a thing by my dealer. At least that’s what he said, Polaris back pedaled on that idea. So it wasn’t done on my machine.

I totally agree with you, cure time and the cleaning before applying the product is crucial. I cleaned and cleaned again, allowed it to cure 24 hours. That has been 5-6 weeks ago and I remain clunkless..
I do believe anything done to the tranny will not effect the spline tolerance on the end of the axle or help the annoying clunk.
Keep us posted Jay B

I was not shocked when your dealer told you that, after all, it is a band aid for improper tolerances.
Kinda just proves their helter skelter approach to the issue.

Does someone have a good email to use to contact Polaris? I’ve done it through the website and contact us. But it makes you select a topic, etc. I don’t think that’s the best route to use.

I call customer support and make a call in complaint. But they don’t care.
