Anyone else get the safety recall for the door latches? Recall number R-24-06. Apparently door latches are not always latching closed fully. And sometimes are not returning to the fully closed position. Polaris does not have a permanent solution as of yet. But supposed to have one some time this month. In the mean time, owners are to verify that the door handle is flush with the lock bezel, once in the machine and door is closed. By reaching out the window.

I've not heard or seen anything from Polaris or my dealer yet, I do know some people here and have a cousin that has problems with them locking on their own.

Been a couple members had issues but first I have heard anything official.
Once again, if it is a possible safety concern they are quick to respond but nothing being done on the clunk.

I just received my email yesterday. My VIN number falls into the affected machines. Email says I’ll be contacted again, when a permanent fix is issued.

Nothing here. No problems either. But mine will lock itself without the key.

I haven’t had that happen, or a door open on its own. But definitely don’t want a door to open with wind force to cause more damage than needed or wanted. I do usually lock my doors when I tow it on the flat bed just cause. But don’t want that to happen going down the road at speed.

Seen that happen to front door on a xp1000. Door was junk. With ours yikes it would be a disaster.

I've thought about wrapping a strap around the cab when I tow it. Since this has come up I think I will rig something up before I tow again.

Had it happen today on driver door at 45 mph.
Door had been closed securely prior to and came wide open and folded back on its own!
No damage to the door that I can find.
I believe the mirror actually helped by not allowing it to fold back completely back.

I'm really surprised that there was no damage after flying open at 45 MPH. It's been a while, but a member here had the aluminum lugs break off the door hinge when the wind caught the door and blew it open when parked.

Haven't inspected the lugs closely for damage yet.
Door seems to close properly, and nothing seems to be out of line.
Mirror was scuffed on the outside corner from contact with the back door.
Handle is not returning to flush position though.
Seems in line with the email from polaris

There have been several here complaining about doors that lock themselves, and I witnessed one a few weeks back. But doors not locking and flying open is a MUCH bigger deal. A few years back a young girl from my area opened the door on an XP1000 while going down the road and it sucked her out and killed her. If this is a known issue to Polaris and can't believe they have not issued a Safety Recall.

I too am really surprised it didn't bend the hinge mounts

Wow! That’s devastating. I can’t believe Polaris doesn’t have a permanent fix for the doors opening as well. In the first original email I received about, it didn’t say anything about stop operations either. Just to reach out the window and verify latch is flush with lock bezel. I’d think if there was an injury or worse in a situation where that happened, Polaris could be looking a big bill I would think.

Keep in mind this is the FIRST report I have heard of a door coming open on its own, everything I know of was about the doors locking on their own. To my knowledge this is an isolated instance which might have other variables.

Here is the actual email from Polaris:

Polaris has determined that the exterior door handle actuators on some Model Year 2024-2025 Ranger XD 1500 and Crew XD 1500 vehicles may stick and cause the door to unexpectedly open while the vehicle is moving and cause an unrestrained rider to fall out of the vehicle or increase the risk of a crash, posing a risk of serious injury. Our records show you have purchased an affected vehicle. Polaris has informed the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) about the issue.

The first photo is where the mirror hit behind the rear door. Looks like some damage to the hinges but they seem to still be secure.

The hinge stop broke off, that's what happened to a member here when the wind caught her door. Your rig looks a little messed up, I'm glad no one got hurt. Thanks for sharing the info from Polaris, your incident is the first time I ever heard of a door flying open. If I was you, I would be super PISSED OFF and raising hell with Polaris.

Ill be calling polaris and the dealer Monday. I reviewed all the links on the email and it states they should have a remedy this month.
For now they recommend continuously checking the door handle to make sure its flush.
Hopefully they will fix what's damaged.
