It can't be seen unless the axle is completely removed but there should be a ring clip at the end of the spline which is what snaps in and holds the axle from doing what yours done.
It is one of three possibilities,

I can't really help you but will share I have installed numerous a arms on machines and learned the turning radius is also effected by the maximum steering degree. I won't mention brands but there was one I seen that had poor qc on their steering stops and everyone that used them had to grind...
The big red emergency screen is mentioned in the owner's manual. Because the transmissions on these machines are designed to "creep" the fear is folks would forget they are in gear and run into or over something or somebody. It's just a safety prompt, not an issue.
Are they the Polaris OEM ? If so I would call them descent but definitely not bright. Thumper Fab sells a set they claim to be twice as bright as OEM ???
Good for you, had to the same couple months back. At the price point of these machines details like this should be caught in QC but nonetheless It's good to be mechanically inclined if you own one.
