I just finished mine using a Dremel tool with a small carbide cutter. No reason to mark out and use a template just look where the wires are hitting the plastic and remove it. Super easy took about 10 minutes.

In Canada ours has to be performed by the dealer.

I'm a fix it myself kind of guy also BUT the dealer said they have to do the fix OR if something happens in the future it may void the warranty on it. It would suck to have to take it in for just that fix. I was lucky and had other updates installed while in there.

Yes they are sticky with some of these recalls. Especially the ones related to fires.

I ordered one that i wanted and got thr recall before the machine ever came. I hope they fixed it.
