Here’s a few pictures and a little bit of information on what it takes to change a CV boot on a rear half shaft. Polaris wanted $90 for a single boot kit, I thought for $40 for two boots. I would try this, so I bought the NICHE part number K – CVB – 0223 kit. It includes two CV boots The inboard and outboard boots are the same. The niche kit also includes compression type clamps one package of grease and some external c-clips. It was about a 30 minute job to replace the boot. One thing to note that on the inside of the inner plunge joint, there is a spring clip that needs to be removed so the whole assembly comes apart. Once the assembly is part, the inner Starr can be removed with snapping pliers. I hope this helps somebody save them some money. It’s a fairly easy job.

Important note. This was not my first CV boot replacement. If you are new to this wear rubber gloves, you’ll thank me later.

Thanks for the heads up on the Niche. Half the cost for double the boots. Might be worth buying ahead of time so you don’t have to wait for shipping, if a person was worried about downtime, especially for $40.

Had a 700 Ranger with 5" gorilla lift, axle shafts were too steep. Blowing a joint or shredding a boot was so common I carried spare shafts and boots when we camped. Filthy job for sure.
