Hi All,
I recently traded in a 2024 Xpedition XP Northstar in on a left over 2024 XD1500 Northstar Ultimate. Vast improvement over the Xpedition in many ways, mostly cabin comfort and noise. Power delivery is great, and it’s surprisingly more capable than I thought. Love the ability to chug through most terrain at low speeds without that 1000 twin screaming at me.
Machine is mostly stock aside from tinted windows and the WD Electronics blinker/hazards/horn kit which came from the Xpedition. I’m piecing a plow kit together for it, as the Xpedition plow setup is totally different. Waiting on the hydraulic angle kit and the controller at this point.
The sound system is a let down from the Xpedition, but I think I’ll add a UTV Sound 10in sub for low end fill.
One issue I’ve had since I picked it up is the seatbelt warning light on the cluster stays on all the time. The dealer gave me a new occupancy sensor to try, that did not fix it. The machine will still limit speed if the seat belt is not buckled, but the warning light stays on no matter what. Probably a trip to the dealer for this, as the occupancy switch did not fix the issue. Not a big deal, but at damn near $40k, I don’t want to see lights on the cluster. The electrical system is super fussy, it will throw a warning light if the seat heater is not plugged in (driver seat), or anything is unplugged. Wild, I’ve had modern cars not this sensitive.
Otherwise, great car, the hvac system is a cut above the Xpedition too. Heats up faster and cools quick. Steering wheel is kinda cheap, might have to upgrade to something a little less plastic like. I attached some pics of the xpedition and the new car.
