High rpm's to get going

My new XD1500 Northstar seems to me to take a higher rpm than what I think it should to get moving. It goes over 2,000 and sometimes closer to 2,500 rpm before it starts to move. I'm new to this machine, so I'm not sure if this is normal. Does not seem right to me.

I'm not sure exactly what the rpms are but one detail you will get used to is hitting the throttle to engage the tranny and then back off just a little. This technique also gives you that kinda diesel torque feel and a throaty sound out the exhaust.

RPM = revolutions per minute

That's strange, on hard, flat ground the machine should start moving without giving it any gas at all. Once you put it in drive the wet clutches take over to get it moving, if you need 2500 rpm's to get moving there is a problem.
