This was on Facebook this morning. I thought it would interest the group.

Ok here is an update to yesterdays post, running two identical, 2024 Polaris 1500 rangers side-by-side. The one in silver has the Gilomen tune and the red one has the Polaris update. For these runs both machines NOW have 30 inch stock tires unlike yesterday’s, where the silver Gilomen 1500 had 32 inch.

There was much to be said yesterday by people running the Gilomen tune that the 2 inch larger tires on the silver macnine was the reason the reason it could not keep up with the factory updated TCM machine from Polaris with 30” stock tires ….The guys at Gilomen even said the same thing..must be tires 🤷‍♂️….well…

We put a brand new set of 30” stock tires and rims today and ran it back…The Gilomen crowd isn’t gonna like it…but there was NO CHANGE in the performance with stock tires matching the ones on the red machine…The Factory updated machine out preformed the Gilomen tuned machine in all 6 runs…

I don’t claim it know why or how but it did. We made 6 recorded runs in sport turf, sport rear locked , comfort locked and in sport 4x4 and the result were the same on all runs.. 1-2 car lengths ahead of the Gillomen Tuned 1500 with the Polaris updated 1500..

We timed these runs this time also…as there was some one yesterday claiming their Gilomen tune knocked 7 seconds off there stock time at 60 mpg..🤣👍 well…if he was running 20 second passes at 60mph maybe he was right…but I was running 12s and your NOT knocking 7 off that in the 1500….The polaris update was 0-60 on average in 12.5-13.1 seconds in different modes ….and in 4x4 sport 13..6-13.8seconds..the Gilomen tuned machine was adv 2 seconds slower.

I was set to go get the Gilomen tune before theses head to head runs…but I think unless we find out why this Polaris update is running so well or why the Gilomen isn’t I will be happy with the way it is for now. Looking for other stock 1500 crews with out the update and Gilomen tune machins to run with to get more data.

Also…the noise you hear clunking in my red machine is the impact wrench we used to change the silver 1500s tires back to 30” so they were identical set ups .

I also put up the pic of the sheet from polaris showing the update that was done to “improve the riders experience when riding in steep terrain, and deep snow”….apparently it works on flat ground too! 😉👍🇺🇸 I have several other vids just with similar results so I didn’t bother posting.

Jay Thanks for the information, is there any videos of these runs on YouTube?

I don't know about YouTube, but the name of the Facebook group is "Polaris Ranger XD 1500 2024+". There are a couple videos to go with it but I don't know how to transfer them from Facebook.

Thanks for posting this. Interesting to hear. I’m wondering when the Polaris update came out and if that’s what I currently have. I don’t have Facebook, so I guess I’ll have to have my wife maybe follow that group.

I believe the latest Polaris update came out in late October. I know I have that update, and it made a difference in the way the transmission behaves. Mine will be going in for the door latch recall when they get the parts in. I will have my dealer check to see if there are any more updates.

Wow, this is just crazy,,,,,and hard to understand. I would have expected the rpm limit increase alone would have changed the outcome.
The Aftermarket Assassin tune claims even higher rev limits and requires 91 octane. Wondering where they would have placed.
Either way I will stand on the sidelines for a while.

I think I am going to try aftermarket assassins. I spoke with them and they have a video coming out soon.

I've never complained about having too much power and have spent tens of thousands of dollars on exhaust, cams, big bore kits, Power Commanders, intakes, and dyno tuning to improve the performance of almost every motorcycle I've ever owned. That said, while interested in what a Giloman or Aftermarket Assassins tune would do for my XD I'm not really that excited about it. My Ranger has gone everyplace I wanted it to go and did anything I wanted it to do without issue. The legal speed limit on the roads here is 35 mph so I don't have a need to rum 80. So, while I kind of want to get an aftermarket tune, I just don't know what problem I'm solving by doing so.

I want it for the low end improvement for our steep hills in southeast Ohio. Not interested in high speed either.
