I spoke with my dealer today when I dropped it off for the door latch recall. Couple of things. I asked about the rear clunk again, I was told the loctite is not an official Polaris fix. So they’re not performing it. He feels it’s not a permanent fix, and he’s hoping Polaris will come out with one. According to him, their dealership is one of the leaders in sales in the PNW of 1500’s. They have not seen a failure from it and he’s discussed it with his rep, and explained how many customers have the rear clunk. I asked if he had any customers with 2025’s and the clunk, he replied with yes.

Second, Polaris is now sending 1500’s out with door limiting straps. They should be available from your dealer. By the sounds of it, someone would have to order them through their local dealer. I’m having them installed while it’s in there. They sit down just below half way down the door. Maybe 3/4” wide. Made out of seat belt style webbing, and have a short piece of elastic sewn onto the webbing in the middle. There was a machine waiting to be picked up that had them, that I got to look at.

Just some FYI.

Interesting, thank you for the information. I called my dealer yesterday and he said the same thing about loctite not being a fix for the rear clunk. Mine is getting worse and starting to chatter some when I make a slow tight right turn. I have 3500 miles and one year warranty up this month. I’m 300 mile round trip to dealer and unless something breaks I’m not sure dealership can do much. I use my 1500 everyday to work in and I really am enjoying it over my 1000. It is frustrating though with Polaris not addressing this issue. I saw some rebates up to $4000 from Polaris and asked about that also. Of course it’s not on the 1500. I was hoping it was to help trade on a 2025 model hoping to get one without this issue. He is still going to figure me a trade but like we all know a one year old trade will not be good. I really appreciate all the feedback on this forum.

Did you get a pick of the door straps by chance?
I tried. But I couldn’t open the door far enough due to other machines being to close. In fact I used my EDC flashlight to get a good look at the one. When I get my machine back, I’ll take some good photos.

Completely understand, and I’m at the point that I’m gonna wait until something breaks. Not sure a 2025 will fix the issue though. My dealer said he has ‘24’s and ‘25’s with the clunk. It does sound like there’s less ‘25’s, with the issue, but still an issue.

I’ve never had an issue with my doors. But it only takes once right.

I’ve never had an issue with my doors either, but since there is a recall, I figured I’d take it in. It helps Polaris is giving us $100 if you complete the recall by May 1st or 31st, I can’t remember the date to be exact. I’m sure I can find something to spend $100 on, lol. Plus I like shootin’ the shit with the guys. It’s a good excuse to look at any build outs they may have in the showroom also.

I didn't get a recall on this.
You didn’t receive one for the door latches? The recall for that is R-24-06. There is not one for the straps. My dealer just happened to bring it up while I was dropping mine off. He said he’d order 4 for me, and throw those on while it’s there.

I did not, mine was just in.

Maybe it was just the early 2024’s. I ordered mine in January of 2024. Not sure when you got yours or what year. You can run your VIN on Polaris’s website for any recalls.

Well, I have had a failure on my 2024. The left rear axle popped out of the differential under 1000 miles (after much clunking). Polaris replaced the axle, but clunk came back within 200 miles. Back to the dealer it went for 3 weeks of head scratching and finally a Polaris Team Tip to try Loctite on both rear axles. So Polaris is recommending this solution. I have about 50 miles on this repair and hear clunking resuming- will withhold judgement for a while on effectiveness of Loctite. Sure seems like a recall is in order. Polaris is hush hush on this. We all need to open Ask Polaris cases pertaining to this issue. Polaris did extend my warranty to compensate me for my recurring clunk problem. So, I guess I run it until it breaks- and hope I’m not in a nasty hole somewhere when it does.

Sorry to hear about your failure and even more disappointing on your new axle going just 200 miles and the clunking returned. Makes you wonder what percentage of the 1500’s have this serious issue. Even under warranty this is a terrible situation because of all the down time and travel to dealership and they still can’t fix it. Running it until it breaks is my situation also but you know it will be a bad time. On my ranch I depend on it like a pickup…. may have to trade back down to 1000 trailboss.

I just scheduled a service and to have the door handle recall done. My dealer told me he also had a recall for the door straps, so I guess they are giving them to me for free.

That’s cool! Not sure if I’m getting mine for free or not. I never asked. He just mentioned that Polaris was now adding door straps and he’d add them to my machine while it was in.

Any one have a service bulletin number or a part number or anything?

This was on the Polaris app for my rig.

I don’t have anything as of right now. But when I dropped mine off for the door latch recall. My salesman said Polaris is now sending out XD’s with door straps, and that’ll he’ll order some for mine. So it sounded like it’s a Polaris repair, but not sure. I’ll ask when I pick it up.
