Just bought crew cab 1500 Ranger handles great . As I come back to load on tilt trailer I open the door and the weight of the door going back broke the door stop. I bet I am not the only one to have the door stop fail ? This is not good and should be addressed by the company

Been numerous door latch issues but door stop failure is new to me. I agree, it should be under warranty

Hello: Yes this is a problem. If you do a search on this web siteyou will find how to do the fix with pictures. I added nylon straps that are a bit shorter than the plasic ones polaris uses. They stop the door just befor the polaris door strap catches. Basicallyit attches to bolts on door and cab. I used an old motorcycle tie down that was bad but the strap was OK. I cut the starps with a soldering gun tip for lenght and put holes in it with the soldering gun as well. Using the soldering gun keeps everything from fraying. Or you could use a hot knife.

I think this is the 3rd door stop failure that I heard of. Two were caused by the door being opened too far by force or caught by the wind which resulted in the cast aluminum (I think) door stop breaking off. The other one was when a door latch failed, and the door flew open when driving. I don't think this issue is necessarily a design problem as almost anything with doors will suffer a failure if swung open too far or too hard. Adding a shorter strap may stop the door lug from breaking but it is simply applying those forces to different stopping points.

There are numerous posts but most are related to the Door Latch recall. Linda had the first issue about a year ago when the wind caught her door. After that a few people made and added "door straps" The second issue that I found was when Tgadds posted that his door flew open at 45 mph.....you had to know that there would be damage from that. The third issue reported that I saw was the beginning of this thread. Maybe there was more listed in some of the threads.....I didn't read them all.

If the weight of the door dose this it is bad engineering. Keep your hand on the door after you open weather in the wind or on a tilt trailer or hill. signed faulty doorstop

Just saying I don't think most people have had an issue with this. Everyone is welcome to their opinion, and you certainly welcome to have one.
