I looked for the 84” snow plow in the Polaris catalog this morning. Wanted to see the latest availability date for the hydraulic lift kit. I was stunned to see that the 84” plow is no longer listed in the filter for my XD 1500 NS Ultimate! Here’s a screenshot:

Hmmm. It was when I bought it. lol. Maybe because so many parts are back ordered?

It's all listed on Polaris website. The 84" plow and the frame are shown as available. The hydraulic lift and angle are listed as "notify me"

It is listed now, but not listed the day I searched for it.

3 days ago my Polaris salesman said there was not a single hydraulic angle for XD 1500 in the USA with no ETA. The dealer doesn't sell anything but Polaris plows, so kinda stalling on my purchase.

While waiting on a proper hydraulic lift, I ran the winch line through a snatch block mounted to the plow and attached the hook to a pair of looped straps around the bumper. See photo below.

You have more faith in that top bar than I do. The bolts that hold it on are just thread cutters into the bumper and doubt that bar is very thick. I could be wrong and hope I am, but it just seems the weight of the plow might be more than what the bar could support long term. That said I like the set-up, and I bet it functions great.

I want to do it this way until Polaris finally gets a beefier hydraulic lift unit available. I’m thinking the four bolts that go in nearly horizontally would have to shear for failure. Our first snow is late this year, but we’re about to get a bunch which will be a good test.

Latest snowfall forecast for us:
Tonight: 1”-3”
Monday: 1”
Tuesday: none
Wednesday: 3”-5”
Wednesday night: 1”-3”
Thursday: 1”-3”
Thursday night: 1”-3”
Friday: 1”-3”
Friday night: 1”

Damn that's a lot of snow........
We are finally getting some rain after about 6 weeks. Supposed to get 4-6" over the next 3 days.

We are in our worst drought in recorded history here in southeast Ohio. Didn’t even get a second cutting of hay and our ponds are the lowest I’ve ever seen them. Need rain bad.

I decided to not temp fate. I can’t use the rod that came with the plow for connecting the winch hook to. It is too long and won’t allow lifting the plow high enough. So I am using a stainless D-shackle in its place. So winch line now goes straight from winch to that shackle and it raises plenty high. That also allows the auto stop feature to work.IMG_6167.jpeg

All though I like your Enginuity with the snatch block setup, I had the same problem with the rod being to long. I cut out several inches out of the middle and had a shop weld it back together. works grate now.

Can you post a picture of this?

So I’ve been following this thread, and I’m getting the assumption that the winch doesn’t allow it to lift high enough, the vertical hydraulics don’t have the capacity and the tilt hydraulics aren’t long enough to tilt far enough to the right? Is all this correct?

I’m picking up my blade and mount tomorrow with the 2 sales that Polaris has going on. I didn’t want to pass it up.

Same here. I made our 2 acre pond 40 years ago , normally down an inch or so in September but refilled by now but we are still 4" low. Getting some moisture now

Yes I think
You’re spot on. But I can’t confirm it. We don’t have snow yet. I did add a rubber scraper to mine.

So I don't know about the hydraulic lift or tilt but I have no problem with the winch lifting my plow high enough. I don't know if my arm is different than some others here or if some want it to raise it above their hood. I've never measured how high it goes but I'm guessing the bottom of the plow is 16" off the ground or so which is more than enough for me.

Thanks guys. Picking mine up today. But not sure I’ll have time to get it all together and fitted on the machine this weekend. I’ll report back once I have. I’ve got 4 cords of wood to split and stack also.

The wiring harness install takes about as much time as the blade assembly.
